Best players of Liga SudAmericana round 4 (Second Stage)

Experienced Dominican Rep. Luis Santos (203-C-1994) had a great game in the last round for league's second-best Regatas Corrientes and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 4 (Second Stage).
The 31-year old center had a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Corinthians (#3, 2-2) 72-66. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Regatas is placed at 2nd position in Liga SudAmericana. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this stage. Regatas will need more victories to improve their 3-1 record. Santos turned to be Regatas' top player in his first season with the team. Luis Santos averages this season 14.0ppg and 6.5rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American forward Dion Wright (201-F-1993) of league's best team Defensor Sporting Club Montevideo. Wright impressed basketball fans with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Of course Defensor cruised to a 64-54 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked San Jose (#4, 2-2). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Defensor consolidated its place in the very top position of the standings. His team has currently 3-1 record. Wright is a newcomer at Defensor and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Gabriel Novaes (208-C/F-2001) of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista (#3). Novaes scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Despite Novaes' great performance the Corinthians lost 66-72 to #2 ranked Regatas. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Corinthians needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 2 victories and 2 lost games. Novaes has a great season in Liga SudAmericana. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.3rpg (3rd best).
